Vibration welding

Vibration welding is a friction welding process, in which plastification of the parts to be joined takes place through friction converted into heat.


Relative motion between the work pieces occurs mainly through linear or orbital vibratory drives. One of the two parts to be joined is vibrated and pressed with the welding load against the second part, rigidly fixed in the capture tool. After a specific plastification in the joint area has been achieved, the vibration drive switches off. Cooling occurs under the effect of the holding pressure.
